① Obi-ita (mae-ita) - The included type is 41 cm wide with a belt and is worn between the obi and kimono. It creates a nice flat area for the obi. (41 cm × 13 cm, rayon and polyethylene)
② Obi-makura - This type is wrapped in gauze to keep it in place and make it easy to tie. It is the shorter/medium type (~20 cm), allowing the otaiko-yama, the top of the otaiko (drum), to sag a little, which some people consider more pleasing than having a perfectly straight otaiko. This is a preferential choice. (20 × 8 × 6 cm, nylon and urethane)
③ Eri-shin - the type included is an "all-plastic one-piece" eri-shin with rounded corners. The smooth material and rounded corners of this type make it very easy to insert it in the han-eri (and take out). I find that this type works easier than the items with bias stitched around the edge. (80 cm × 4.5 cm, 100% polyethylene)
④ Koshi-himo (kari-himo) - Included are four 100% wool (mosurin) himo. Wool has the perfect properties to make a good himo. It is strong and stretchy, soft enough to not damage the kimono, and does not slide. On average three koshi-himo are used when dressing in the nagajuban and kimono, and one kari-himo as a helper when tying my obi. (210 cm × 3.5 cm, 100% wool)
⑤ Date-jime - 1 silk Hakata-ori datejime. Hakata is the name of an area and a brand with a long history of producing strong woven fabrics used for both obi and date-jime. Hakata-ori is a very strong weave with a typical texture. It creates a smooth flat area. You can use either one or two date-jime when dressing, but this basic set only includes one as you can use a regular koshi-himo with the nagajuban (contact us if you are interested in an additional date-jime). Note that the design of the actual item can vary from the picture but all items will have red as the main color and are Hakata-ori gold label (224 cm × 10 cm, 100% silk warp and weft threads)
The included hadajuban and tabi can be machine-washed and are available in larger sizes.
⑥ Hadajuban - There are several different types of "kimono underwear." The included slip style hadajuban is a one-piece consisting of a cotton upper part with a polyester lower part. This type wears just like a kimono and closes with the attached string. It has a low-cut neck so it won't show when worn under the kimono. The polyester lower part allows the nagajuban to move/slide freely. (Cotton and polyester)
Select your size:
• S: shoulder width 46 cm, length 117 cm, yuki 32 cm, hem 122 cm
• M: shoulder width 50 cm, length 121 cm, yuki 35 cm, hem 132 cm
• L: shoulder width 54 cm, length 124 cm, yuki 37 cm, hem 152 cm
• 2L: shoulder width 59 cm , length 130 cm, yuki 40 cm, hem 160 cm
⑦ Tabi - tabi come in different materials. Cotton and silk tabi get damaged quite fast, polyester and nylon tabi are in general a little more durable and easier to clean. I included a pair of white stretchy nylon tabi. The nylon creates a nice tight fit and does not wrinkle. They are closed with five metal clasps. The lining is cotton. (Nylon, polyester, and cotton)
Since they are stretchy and look better with a tight fit, it is better to pick a matching or smaller size.
• S: 21.5 - 22 cm
• M: 22.5 - 23.5 cm
• L: 23.5 - 24.5 cm
• 2L: 25 - 25.5 cm
• 3L: 26 - 26.5 cm
• 4L: 27 - 28 cm
⑧ Clips - Included are two large clips to keep things in place while dressing. Use on the back of the eri and keep your obi in place while dressing. The clips have soft pads that don't damage the fabric. (7 cm × 2 cm, steel and rubber)
⑨ Kimono dressing mat - this large paper mat is something indispensable and comes in handy when dressing and folding. The edges on this particular model are a little thicker. It folds up small for easy storage, and since it is light and made from paper it is easy to give it a shake before placing it on the floor (or table). The side with the pattern is the bottom side, the white side is up. It is made from thicker paper with a wrinkled texture, but some care should be taken. (100 cm × 180 cm, paper)
All items are new and made in Japan unless otherwise stated.
