ヴィンテージ品で状態は非常に良く仕付け糸がついています。
右袖の後ろに小さなひとつの変色があります。

Vintage Hachioji meisen kimono with a design of plum (ume) blossom and branches. The base fabric is in typical Hachioji meisen checkered Kapitan-weave. The overall design is stencil applied to the warp only (hogushi-gasuri). The design features ume (plum) blossoms in light and dark pink with accents in yellow. The hakkake (hem lining) is in matching color pink, also the hem is padded with cotton.

Condition: wearable, collectible, very good, one discoloration on the back of the right sleeve, shitsuke-ito still present


Meisen refers to a weaving/production technique where the design is transferred to the threads using stencils before weaving. This technique optimized the production process and allowed to create affordable kimonos with colorful and complex designs. Meisen became popular in the early twentieth century. Although the designs are stencil applied they keep the distinctive feel of kasuri (ikat) woven splash patterns. In general Meisen kimono look more modern as a result of the bold designs and colors.
