The lining has a charming white and reddish marbled pattern, matching the woven ryusui patterned fabric. The michiyuki coat has a small hidden pocket on the right side (chest)
Age: vintage
Condition: excellent
Suzunoya tag (well-known kimono shop), Some not very visible small stains on the back.
A michiyuki is a formal Japanese kimono coat. Michiyuki are easy to recognize since most of them have a big square (or squarish) shaped collar. Michiyuki are worn closed left over right at the front with small push buttons. Since the collar is open the eri (collar) of the kimono is visible. In winter you can wear a scarf or stole for extra warmth. Although they cover the obi, michiyuki, in general, have a "tighter" feel/fit than douchugi and haori.
In combination with western clothes, michiyuki coats can be worn as-is, like a light jacket or a short housecoat. Depending on the pattern and design you can create a unique formal or casual look.
